Treasure Boxes

Welcome to the Treasure Boxes website.

The Treasure Boxes initiative was the idea of a six year old girl who wanted to do something to help others. For some time she has been making crystal and stone bracelets and selling these to friends but couldn't decide what to do with the money.

After some careful thought our little girl, other wise known as the 'Treasure Fairy' decided that she would like to put together shoeboxes of toys for children who had none. The problem was that we couldn't find a suitable charity to donate these to.

We contacted our local women's refuge with the idea of donating these shoeboxes to the children and found out that many of the children who arrive have nothing at all. The refuge sees about 50 children go through their doors each year so the need is great.

We have now set ourselves the task of donating a shoe box for every child. These cost about £15 each to make so we need to raise about £750 per year for this refuge alone.  If we raise surplus money we will either donate additional items for the care of the children living there or look into supporting other nearby refuges in a similar way.

We want to protect the identify of our little girl, but if you would like to check that this is a legitimate cause, please get in touch and we will direct you to the Children's Co-ordinator at the refuge who can verify this.
